Battery Electrode Material
 
Toho Tenax is working on developing an electrode material made with carbon fiber, which has been applied to NAS(Sodium-sulfur )battery and fuel cells. Due to its excellent properties, customers have been showering our efforts with praise.
 
Characteristics of electrode material made with carbon fiber

  • Excellent chemical stability compared to metal electrodes (corrosion-free)
  • Excellent malleability due to the textile quality of woven and non-woven fabrics
  • High energy-transfer efficiency due to ultra-fine fibers (5-15 m in diameter)

NAS(Sodium-sulfur )battery electrode
 
The commercial production of large rechargeable batteries has been recently promoted, with the purpose of smoothing electricity, and to provide backup power sources. NAS(Sodium-sulfur )battery (see figure above) are outstanding in terms of energy density, efficiency, and durability. Carbon fiber structural material developed by our laboratories is used for the anode.
